Last weekend we flew to Kentucky to visit John's cousin Tom who's been trying to get us down for years. We had a spectacular time with Tom and his friend, Patsy. From Louisville, we headed out to the country to see Tom's ultralight plane.
The "hanger," complete with turkey vulture on top> Hmmm, waiting for an accident perhaps?!
Open the barn door and voila!
We hooked the plane up to the jeep and headed down to the field.
Then unfolded it!
John suited up.
And they we ready to fly.

Taking off.
Then it was my turn.
We were flying high!

The cousins.
Driving around, we saw this biker with the Bolla shirt. Thirty years ago, John worked on the Bolla wine account and went to Louisville quite often as a result. We discovered that Patsy knew our friend, Bill Juckett, also and so invited him to her party that Saturday night!

After thirty years, together again!

With Bill and his wife, Barbara.
Saturday we drove through some beautiful horse country to go Lexington and the track at Keeneland. It was opening weekend and the track will be open all month. They take their racing seriously down in Kentucky and we had to dress up.

Keeneland now has a polyfiber track.

Churchhill Downs takes over for the month of November when the races move up there. John and I had been at Churchill Downs right after we were married in 1977. It was great to be back but it was sad to see the newly added levels to the grandstands on both sides of the famous spires.

It was an swesome weekend. Can't wait to go again!
