A Better Mousetrap?

Two weeks after tendon surgery and this us what I have to put up with for three more weeks. (Now I know how lady felt last year with her leg contraption!)

Needless to say the kids at school love it and I've promised to bring it in at the end of the year for our unit on simple machines!

When Things HIt Home

We've been living with the Irag War far too long and the continued chaos over there discourages and doesn't sit well with most Americans. The war has finally reached out it's dark arm to steal from the small community of Killingworth. It has taken it's 25-year-old son, and foster son of Jon and Kathy Miller, Jason Lantieri. Jason Lantieri, a kid with normal ups and downs and a My Space page. The war touches us all.

Glorious Weekend!

This has got to be one of the all time best weekends ever!

It began, as it should, on Friday night with the engagement party for Patrick and Chrissy and what a party it was (be patient...next blog entry!). Then dinner Saturday night with fun friends, and two glorious days of summer-like weather with which to enjoy the fall foliage. Sunday afternoon the Giants won and to top it off, the Red Sox tied up the playoff series on Saturday night! Yes, I know...I'm a Yankees fan but I am NOT one of those fans who roots for whomever is playing the Red Sox. So a great Sunday with the final Red Sox game tonight. Life is indeed good.

But back to the weather...I was stunned to see in NYC Saturday morning that the trees in Central Park were still green and that New Yorkers weren't even close to experiencing what we're seeing in Connecticut. And so for all you city dwellers, here's what's coming.........

FALL WEEKEND

I love fall weekends. Fall means crisp Indian summer days, sharp blue skies, warm penetrating sunshine, beautiful foliage, hot soups, apple pie with cheddar cheese, and football. This past weekend we planned to go to New Jersey to watch nephew Murphy McCurdy (Joe andKathy's youngest) play football so Saturday we slogged our way through the downpour even though the game was postponed until the following day (the mid-field was underwater).

Sunday dawned bright, sunny, breezy and cold, a perfect day for football. And on a day such as this, everything looks great. Delbarton is a beautiful school, set on a hill surrounded by acres and acres of fields and woods.

An hour and a half before the game the special teams march to the field for warm up.

By the way...did I mention it rained buckets the day before? Yes...I slipped.

Jay Mahoney, Murph's godfather, came down for the game.

Michael and Sophia were also there.

Did I mention Murphy plays wide receiver, defensive safety, 2nd-string quarterback when necessary and takes the snap?

It was a great weekend. Delbarton won so we'll be looking forward to the playoffs.
