Family Holidays

It has been a busy fall and a newly started third grade blog has kept these fingers away from my personal blog. Sorry about that.

So let's get back to basics...family and friends.

It has been an equally busy December with many family parties celebrating the holidays. The McCurdys got together at the beginning of December at Larchmont Yacht for our annual brunch and Yankee Swap.

Great food although this is not a good example of a cholesterol free plate!

IMG_1251.JPG
We moved on to the Yankee Swap.

IMG_1258.JPG
Some people were excited about their pick....

Hmmmm...this one has been 'round before, I think.

Time for the annual family photo which was NOT our Christmas card this year since we had the family photo at Patrick and Chrissy's wedding.

Patrick and Chrissy start their own tradition and appropriately as Patrick proposed to Chrissy at Larchmont.

After the McCurdy party, it was two weeks until the Thompson Christmas. Stay tuned!

A VERY MERRY THOMPSON CHRISTMAS

It's almost 10 days after our "Thompson" family party and I am still glowing from the from the warmth and love that emitted from that day. It is said that "Christmas is for children" and that was no more evident than this year. It was the children who impressed me the most and gave me such a happy time.

We were sorry that Michael couldn't accompany Yvonne, Tristan, Leah and cutie Morgan this year. We all took too many photos of Morgan who was just too cute.

IMG_1415.JPG
Kim enjoyed holding her.

IMG_1421.JPG
Heather enjoyed feeding her.

IMG_1418.JPG
I enjoyed taking photos of her.

As I did with the other kids also.....

IMG_1423.JPG
We had a surprise visit from Santa Claus!

IMG_1424.JPG
The kids were very excited about that!

IMG_1425.JPG
Hmmmm....so were some of the adults.

IMG_1429.JPG
Tristan was very excited.

IMG_1431.JPG
Morgan got to sit on his lap.

IMG_1433.JPG
Santa chatted with Lindsay.

IMG_1436.JPG
And Katie...he remembered Katie's dress from last year!

IMG_1438.JPG
Isabelle was somewhat quiet.

IMG_1440.JPG
We took a photo for Mrs. Claus.

IMG_1443.JPG
Tristan got a book all about Santa which Lindsay read to the kids.

After Santa left we moved on to gift giving.

IMG_1475.JPG

IMG_1450.JPG
The girls got matching shirts!

IMG_1489.JPG
And soccer art! We've got the Yellow Cobras, Blue Baracuddas and New Canaan.

IMG_1454.JPG
Patrick got a back massager (thanks for sharing this week, Pat!)

IMG_1456.JPG
Some are pleased by the least little thing...copier paper.

IMG_1459.JPG
Some gifts tugged at our emotions. It was our first Christmas without Cameron and it was difficult.

IMG_1480.JPG

IMG_1461.JPG
Some people wanted gifts that were beneficial to others, in this case the birds.

IMG_1481.JPG
For Claudia it was Heifer International. She "gave" a flock of chicks, geese and ducks. Good move, Claudie.

The children were so impressive. they were genuinely interested in what everyone got and stood by as each individual unwrapped their gift.

IMG_1470.JPG
Here the kids watch as Patrick opens what turns out to be a special gift.

IMG_1471.JPG
His great great-grandfather's Colt 45.

IMG_1473.JPG
Some gifts were toasty...a down jacket...

IMG_1484.JPG
PJs from Chrissy

IMG_1492.JPG
Tristan delivered a gift for Aunt Joan who drove down from the Cape to be with us.

IMG_1496.JPG
He helped her unwrap it.

After dinner we moved on to dinner.

IMG_1498.JPG

IMG_1499.JPG
Each year people fight to sit at the kids' table. Can you blame them?

IMG_1503.JPG
Some prefer not to use their spoons for eating.

IMG_1506.JPG
Oh dear, look what we started!

IMG_1511.JPG
Go, Katie!

IMG_1504.JPG
Mom refuses to be upstaged by her kids!

IMG_1508.JPG
Tristan wants to learn and so Lindsay teaches him.

IMG_1509.JPG
He does it!

IMG_1510.JPG
This deserves two photos! Tristan is so pleased!

IMG_1515.JPG
Even Auntie Claudia gets into the act!

IMG_1514.JPG
I think Morgan wants to try.

IMG_1517.JPG
But it's time for dessert.

After dinner, it's time to settle the kids down with a movie. WE picked Annie.

IMG_1520.JPG
Hmmmm.....all the kids, I guess.

IMG_1521.JPG
Comfy on the sofa.

IMG_1524.JPG
Very comfy.

IMG_1526.JPG
Really, really comfy.

IMG_1527.JPG
Even for grown-ups.

It was a fantastic day....one I am still reliving.
